Owned by Gray Television, and formerly a translator of CBS affiliate KOLN/KGIN Lincoln/Grand Island, the station was re-launched on September 3, 2013 as a semi-satellite featuring local news programming specific to the North Platte market. The station is part of a duopoly with NBC affiliate KNOP-TV, which was acquired by Gray from Hoak Media in 2014. The whole sale was completed on June 13.
