Kelsey Koelzer

Kelsey Koelzer is an American-born women's ice hockey player. Having played at the collegiate level with the Princeton Tigers women's ice hockey program, she was the first overall selection in the 2016 NWHL Draft. She becomes the first African-American player to be selected first overall in any professional women's hockey player draft in North America (either CWHL or NWHL). Of note, it marked the second consecutive year that the Riveters possessed the first pick overall, selecting Alexandra Carpenter in the 2015 edition of the draft. Koelzer becomes the second Tigers player selected in NWHL Draft, following Kimberly Newell, who was selected in 2015.
