It is the follow-up to his 2007 debut Love Hate and was written and produced primarily by The-Dream and creative partner Christopher "Tricky" Stewart. Recording sessions for the album took place at several recording studios, including Chung King Studios in New York City and Studio at the Palms in Las Vegas.
