It plays at Aweil Stadium which is currently known as Madane Horia (which is translated, "Pitch Of Freedom"). The team was founded on 3 February 1982. Merreikh Aweil is one of successful teams of Aweil. They are winners of Aweilian league three (3) times. In 2012 they reached semi-finals of South Sudan Cup at Juba Stadium, but they were knocked out by Al Merreikh Renk. The word Merreikh means The Mars in Arabic language.They are sharing a fierce rivalry with Salaam Aweil FC in Aweil.
