Onești (Romanian pronunciation: [oˈneʃtʲ]; Hungarian: Ónfalva) is a city in Bacău County, Romania, with a population of 39,172 inhabitants. It is situated in the historical region of Western Moldavia. Administratively, the villages of Slobozia and Borzești form part of Onești. Borzești, site of the Borzești Church, was the birthplace of Stephen III of Moldavia.
