Shooter was a 1988 TV pilot that NBC decided not to pick up as a series. Instead NBC aired the pilot as a TV movie of the week.The film is based on the book "Shooter" by and about Pulitzer Prize–winning photographer David Hume Kennerly. Kennerly had been a combat photo journalist during the Vietnam War.
