An easy distinctive character of S. cingulatus in respect of Rhynocoris species is the back completely black and the femora with three red and black rings. S. cingulatus is an endemic Italian species, but rare or not common, present in Italian mainland and in Sicily. It measures about 10 millimetres (0.4 in).
