First recorded by Bob Wills and The Texas Playboys in 1947 (Columbia 37313), it reached #1 staying on the charts six weeks. It has been covered by Willie Nelson, k.d. lang (1988), Asleep at the Wheel, and other artists. The 1958 Pat Boone song "Sugar Moon" is a different song by songwriter Danny Wolfe.
