Since 2012, the race has been run at Belmont Park in early July. Earlier runnings were at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York. The race was run at 6 furlongs until 2013, when it was changed to 6 1⁄2 furlongs. The race is named in honor of Victory Ride, Saratoga's Grade I Test Stakes champion in 2001.
