Wynnewood, Oklahoma

Wynnewood is a city in Garvin County, Oklahoma, United States. It is sixty miles southeast of Oklahoma City. The population was 2,112 at the 2010 U.S. census, compared to 2,367 at the 2000 U.S.census. Located in what was then the Chickasaw Nation of Indian Territory, it began as a village called Walner in 1886, on the proposed route of the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Re Railway. Railroad workers, who were from Pennsylvania, named the community for Wynnewood, Pennsylvania. The name became official on April 6, 1887.
