Tennessee voters chose 12 representatives, or electors, to the Electoral College, who voted for president and vice president. Republican Party candidate Abraham Lincoln (who was elected President) was not on the ballot in Tennessee, the only one of ten such states to be carried by a candidate other than Breckinridge.
