Voters chose 14 representatives, or electors to the Electoral College, who voted for president and vice president. Johnson carried Massachusetts in a landslide, taking 76.19% of the vote to Goldwater’s 23.44%, a Democratic victory margin of 52.74%. This made it the third most Democratic state in the nation, after Rhode Island and Hawaii.
