Roger Federer successfully defended his title, defeating Andre Agassi 6–3, 2–6, 7–6(7–1), 6–1 in the final to win the Men's Singles tennis title at the 2005 US Open. This was Agassi's last appearance in a Grand Slam tournament final. This was also the last Grand Slam tournament for former world no. 6 and French Open Champion Albert Costa.
