The 2015–16 Brooklyn Nets season was the 40th season of the franchise in the National Basketball Association (NBA), and its fourth season playing in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. In the off-season, the Nets let Deron Williams go after five seasons with the team. He later signed with the Dallas Mavericks. On February 25, the Nets parted ways with All-Star Joe Johnson. Two days later, Johnson signed with the Miami Heat. The Nets finished with a 21–61 record, their worst since moving to Brooklyn in 2012.
