Afzal Ali (poet)

Afzal Ali (Bengali: আফজল আলী, romanized: Afzol Ali) was a medieval Bengali Muslim poet. He was the resident of Milua village at Satkania Upazila in Chittagong District in about the sixteenth century. Bhangu Fakir was his father. So far, a book titled 'Nasihatnama (নসীহতনামা)' written by the poet and a few verses written in Vaishnava style have been found. The period of writing of the book 'Nasihatnama' is approximately 1662 His book is a notable creation in the literature of Muslim Bengal in the sixteenth century. This is because there is not much of a Bengali text containing the teachings of Islam written at that time. This book contains references to sermons in simple language.
