Antarctotrechus

Antarctotrechus balli, with a proposed vernacular name of Ball's Antarctic tundra beetle (in honor of the beetle scientist George Ball), is a long-extinct beetle that used to inhabit the temperate climate of what is now Antarctica. It was less than a centimeter long, believed to be dark brown in color, and existed during the mid-Miocene period, between 14 and 20 million years ago.
