Battle of Jalalabad (1710)
The Battle of Jalalabad occurred in 1710 between the Mughal forces of Jalal Khan Rohilla and Sayyid Taj-ud-Din Barha, and the Sikh forces of Banda Singh Bahadur. Banda Singh Bahadur attacked the Mughal stronghold of Jalalabad. Jalal Khan and Sayyid Barha inflicted a crushing defeat on the Sikh army. The Mughal army was composed of a sizeable number of Muslim zamindars and shurafa, including many Sadat, who supported the Mughals in their bid to drive out the Sikhs. After the battle, Shamli and the surrounding areas were recaptured by the Mughals as Banda Singh Bahadur and his army retreated towards Punjab.
