Bruce Hajek

Bruce Edward Hajek is the Center for Advanced Study Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Professor in the Coordinated Science Laboratory, and Hoeft Chair in Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). His research spans communication networks, auction theory, stochastic analysis, combinatorial optimization, machine learning, information theory, as well as bioinformatics. Hajek joined the faculty of UIUC in 1979. He served as editor-in-chief for IEEE Transactions on Information Theory. In 1995 he was president of the IEEE Information Theory Society.
