Building a Gothic cathedral
The construction of cathedrals in the Gothic style was the most ambitious, expensive, and technically demanding building work of the Late Middle Ages. Cathedrals, the mother churches of bishops' dioceses and built at their episcopal sees, were built in the architectural style of Gothic architecture throughout Western Christianity from the late 11th century until the Renaissance, particularly in Western Europe and the Crusader States.
