Chris Barker is the American chair professor of linguistics at New York University, famous for his discovery of the universal iota combinator and his continuation-based approach to scope. He gathered bachelorates in English (Yale 1983) and Computer and Information Sciences (Santa Cruz 1986) before his doctorate in linguistics (Santa Cruz 1991).
