City Hospitals Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust was established as an NHS Trust in April 1994 and became an NHS Foundation Trust in July 2004, providing services in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, England. It operates Sunderland Royal Hospital, Sunderland Eye Infirmary, The Children’s Centre, Durham Road and Church View Medical Practice. It is building a new diagnostic and treatment centre in Durham. In May 2018 it agreed to merge with South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust to form South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust. The merger completed in April 2019.
