David Gustav Epstein is the George E. Allen Professor of Law at University of Richmond School of Law and an expert on bankruptcy. Epstein was raised in Texas by a Jewish family. Epstein received a B.A. from the University of Texas in 1964, a J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law in 1966, and an LL.M. from Harvard Law School in 1969. While a student at UT, he became a member of the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity. He was also a clerk for the Texas Supreme Court. In 2006, he became Of Counsel to the law firm of Haynes and Boone, working out of their office in Dallas, Texas, one day a week.
