Ella Scoble Opperman

Ella Scoble Opperman (October 27, 1873 – March 11,1969) was an American pianist, organist, music teacher, and vocal coach. She was the first director and dean of the School of Music at the Florida State College for Women. Throughout her life, she learned and worked with prominent musical pedagogues such as Ernest Jedliczka, Leopold Godowsky, Alexandre Guilmant. Ella Opperman had witnessed significant cultural, social, political and educational changes throughout her life. She was born eight years after the Civil War had ended and died five years after the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
