Esit Eket

Esit-Eket is a town and Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, southern Nigeria. The Ekid-Speaking People were said to have migrated from Esit Eket to their present settlement. The local government area consists of two clans - Eket Offiong and Eket Afaha but the communities are informally divided into three geopolitical zones. There are eleven political wards. The people of Esit Eket are mainly farmers, artisans, traders and fishermen although and increasing proportion are venturing into white collar jobs in the public services. The traditional Paramount Ruler of Esit Eket is His Royal Majesty, Edidem Ubong Peter Assam (also the Clan Head of Ekid Afaha) while the Clan Head of Ekid Offiong is His Highness Nsoaduok Eteudo Ikot.
