Fortifications of Gothenburg (Swedish: Göteborgs befästningar) were initially embankments along the newly dug city moat (Vallgraven) in Gothenburg, Sweden. They were built to defend Gothenburg which was Sweden's only direct access to the North Sea and Atlantic Ocean.
