German submarine U-527 was a Type IXC U-boat of Nazi Germany's Kriegsmarine during World War II. She was laid down at the Deutsche Werft yard in Hamburg as yard number 342 on 28 October 1941, launched on 17 June 1942 and commissioned on 2 September with Kapitänleutnant Herbert Uhlig in command. U-527 began her service career with training as part of the 4th U-boat Flotilla from 2 September 1942. She was re-assigned to the 10th flotilla for operations on 1 February 1943. She was sunk by US aircraft south of the Azores, in July 1943
