Howell's Cottage

Howell's Cottage, also known as Te Whare Kohikohi, is thought to have been the first house built in Riverton, New Zealand. It was built in 1837–38 and is thus one of very few New Zealand buildings constructed before the 1840s. It was built by the founder of Riverton, Captain John Howell for his wife Kohi Kohi. On 20 February 1992, the building was registered as Category I with Heritage New Zealand.
