Ikuo Oyama

Ikuo Oyama (大山 郁夫, Ōyama Ikuo) was a Japanese academic, politician and writer. He fled Japan in 1933 to the United States, where he got a job at Northwestern University at its library and political science department. He returned to Japan after the end of World War II. In 1951, he was awarded the Stalin Peace Prize. He died of a subdural hematoma while serving as a member of the House of Councillors. He graduated from Waseda University in 1905, before graduating from the universities, Chicago and Munich. He was decribed as politically liberal and was quite active in the peace movement.
