Intelligence Commissioner of Canada
The intelligence commissioner of Canada (French: commissaire au renseignement du Canada) is an independent officer of the Government of Canada charged with quasi-judicial review of the intelligence services of Canada – which include the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and the Communications Security Establishment (CSE) – before the agencies engage in certain espionage activities. The inaugural and present intelligence commissioner of Canada is Jean-Pierre Plouffe, who took office on July 12, 2019.
