Jōmon people
"Jōmon people" (縄文人, Jōmon jin) is the generic name of several peoples who lived in the Japanese archipelago during the Jōmon period (c. 14,000 to 300 BCE). Today, most Japanese historians agree on the possibility that the Jōmon were not a single homogeneous people, but instead consisted of multiple heterogeneous groups.
