Jabbour Douaihy

Jabbour Douaihy (Arabic: جبور الدويهي) (born 1949) is a Lebanese writer. He was born in Zgharta in 1949, a member of the city's prominent . He obtained a PhD in comparative literature from the New Sorbonne University and is currently a professor of French literature at the Lebanese University in Beirut. His novel June Rain was nominated for the 2008 Arabic Booker Prize and has been translated in several languages. An earlier work Autumn Equinox was translated into English by Nay Hannawi and won the Arkansas Arabic Translation Award. His most recent novel is Chased Away. Douaihy has also published short story collections and children's books.
