Jembaicumbene

Jembaicumbene (pronounced Jemmi-c'm-bene) is a locality in the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales, Australia, located 8 km (5 miles) out along the Braidwood–Majors Creek Road. Once a thriving goldfield, it is now a peaceful, pretty valley on the way to Majors Creek. The mining village of the same name is now virtually a ghost town. At the 2016 census, the locality had a population of 41. The area now known as Jembaicumbene lies on the traditional lands of the Walbanga people, a group of the Yuin. Settlers took over land in the area from the 1830s.
