Jens Holmboe (5 May 1880 – 24 July 1943) was a Norwegian botanist, professor and author. Jens Holmboe was born at Tvedestrand in Aust-Agder, Norway. He the oldest son of physician Michael Holmboe (1852-1918) and his wife Eleonore Vogt (1857–1901). His grandfather Jens Holmboe (1821-1891) was a prominent politician. He attended Oslo Cathedral School and studied botany at the University of Christiania (now University of Oslo). The standard author abbreviation Holmboe is used to indicate this person as the author when citing a botanical name.
