John Gibson Parkhurst
John Gibson Parkhurst (April 17, 1824 – May 6, 1906) was an officer in the Union Army during the American Civil War and later was as diplomat. He was born the youngest of eight children of Stephen and Sally (née Gibson) Parkhurst in Oneida Castle, New York. One of his older siblings died before he was born.
