The Joplin, Missouri, Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), as defined by the United States Census Bureau, is an area consisting of Jasper and Newton counties in southwest Missouri, anchored by the city of Joplin. The Joplin–Miami, Missouri–Oklahoma, Combined Statistical Area (CSA) includes the Miami, Oklahoma, micropolitan statistical area, corresponding to Ottawa County in extreme northeast Oklahoma. Ottawa County was officially added to the Joplin Metropolitan area in April 2013. As of the 2018 estimate, the population is 210,077.
