José María Marxuach Echavarría

Dr. José María Marxuach Echavarría (baptized as José Monserrate Marxuach Echavarría) (April 16, 1848 – 1910), was a medical doctor and politician who served twice as Mayor of the City of San Juan, Puerto Rico. His first administration was under Spanish colonial rule and his second administration under United States rule. He is the only person in Puerto Rico to have served in that capacity under the rule of two different colonial governments.
