Karl Messerli
Karl Messerli (born 3 March 1947) is a Swiss former footballer who played in the 1960s and 1970s as midfielder. Messerli played in FC Basel's reserve team and as he was needed he advanced to their first team in their 1964–65 season under manager Jiří Sobotka. After playing in two test games, in both of which he scored a goal, Messerli played his domestic league debut for the club in the home game at the Landhof on 21 February 1965 as Basel won 4–3 against Biel-Bienne.
