Khalkhal County

Khalkhal County (Persian: شهرستان خلخال‎)(Azerbaijan turkish: Xəlxal, is a county in Ardabil Province in Iran. The capital of the county is Khalkhal. Most of Khalkhalis are of Azeribaijan Turk origin. As of the 2016 census, the county's population was 86,731, in 26,779 households. The county consists of three districts: the Central District, Khvor Rostam District, and Shahrud District. The county has three cities: Hashatjin, Kolowr, and Khalkhal. The majority of Khalkhal county are Azerbaijanis, but there are many Tats are living in southern areas of county, especially in Shahrud District and Khvoresh Rostam District.
