The Lost Decades (失われた十年, Ushinawareta Jūnen) refers to a period of economic stagnation in Japan caused by the asset price bubble's collapse in late 1991. The term originally referred to the years from 1991 to 2001, but the decade from 2001 to 2011 (Lost 20 Years) and the decade from 2011 to 2021 (Lost 30 Years 失われた30年) have been included by commentators.
