Madhubala (1933–1969) was an Indian actress who appeared in 73 Hindi-language films between 1942 and 1971. After making her first screen appearance in Basant (1942), when she was eight, Madhubala appeared in several films produced under Ranjit Movietone. In 1947, she achieved her first starring role in Neel Kamal, but the failure of her next releases led to her being relegated to supporting roles like in the melodramas Parai Aag (1948) and Paras (1949).
