New York City mayoral elections
The mayor of New York City is elected in early November every four years and takes office at the beginning of the following year. The city, which elects the mayor as its chief executive, consists of the five boroughs (Manhattan, The Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island), which consolidated to form "Greater" New York on January 1, 1898. The current mayor is Bill de Blasio. He was elected for a first term in 2013 and for a second term in 2017. The upcoming 2021 New York City mayoral elections will select the next mayor.
