La République des Deux Nations (Rzeczpospolita Obojga Narodów), réunissant le royaume de Pologne et le grand-duché de Lituanie, est née de l'acte d'union signé le 1er juillet 1569 à Lublin. Elle prend fin en 1795, lors du troisième partage de son territoire entre la Russie, la Prusse et l'Autriche, qui supprime l'État polono-lituanien. Pluriethnique et pluriconfessionnelle, cette République comprend une grande partie des territoires des actuelles Pologne, Lituanie, Biélorussie et Ukraine.
