Pieter Hugo
Pieter Hugo (born 29 October 1976) is a South African photographer who primarily works in portraiture. His work considers the role of photography between documentary and art traditions with a focus on peripheral communities. He lives in Cape Town. Hugo has had four monographs published on his career: Pieter Hugo: The Hyena and Other Men (2008), Pieter Hugo: Selected Works (2009), This Must Be the Place (2012), and Pieter Hugo: Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea (2017).
