Ruatoki

Ruatoki or 'Rūātoki is a locality in the Bay of Plenty Region of New Zealand. It is located at the base of the Urewera Valley, approximately 20 km south of Whakatāne. The predominantly Māori community of approximately 600 people affiliate with the Tūhoe iwi. Ruatoki was one of the main sites involved in the 2007 New Zealand anti-terror raids, conducted under the Terrorism Suppression Act 2002.
