Ruzena Bajcsy

Ruzena Bajcsy (born 1933 in Bratislava, Czechoslovakia) is an American engineer and computer scientist who specializes in robotics. She is Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of California, Berkeley, where she is also Director Emerita of CITRIS (the Center for Information Technology Research in the Interest of Society). In 1997, Bajcsy was elected a member of the National Academy of Engineering for the development of 'active perception' methods, and for leadership in the community. She was elected a member of the American Philosophical Society in 2005.
