Samaria (ancient city)

Samaria (Hebrew: שומרון‎, Shomron; Ancient Greek: Σαμάρεια, Samareia; Arabic: السامرة‎, as-Samira) was an ancient capital of the northern Kingdom of Israel in the 9th and 8th centuries BC. The ruins of the city are located in the Samaria mountains, almost 10 km (6.2 mi) to the northwest of Nablus.
