Sandersville played as members of the Class D level Georgia State League from 1953 to 1956. The Team was first called the Sandersville Wacos in 1953 and 1954. Sandersville was an affiliate of the Milwaukee Braves in 1953 and New York Giants in 1955 to 1956. Baseball Hall of Fame member Willie McCovey played for the 1955 Sandersville Giants.
