Shōwa Modan

Shōwa Modan or Shōwa Modern was a modernist civil culture that was a compromise between Japanese and Western styles, which blossomed in the early Shōwa era from 1926 through the 1930s. Modern definition includes the culture after 1920 (Taishō romance). The Shōwa era was divided into pre-war and post-war periods with World War II in between, but Shōwa Modan corresponded to the pre-war period.
