Stanhope, County Durham

Stanhope /ˈstænəp/ is a village and civil parish in the County Durham district, in the ceremonial county of Durham, England, situated on the River Wear between Eastgate and Frosterley, on the north-east side of Weardale. The main A689 road that bridges the Pennines is crossed at Stanhope by the B6278 road between Barnard Castle and Shotley Bridge.
