Tagoyano Shell Mound

The Tagoyano Shell Midden (田小屋野貝塚, Tagoyano kaizuka) is an archaeological site in what is now the city of Tsugaru, Aomori Prefecture, in the Tōhoku region of northern Japan with an early Jōmon period shell midden. The site was designated a National Historic Site in 1944 by the Japanese government. It is a rare example of a shell midden to be found near the coast of the Sea of Japan.
